The World Reacts To Climate Changes

It has become clear to us as a species that we will not win the war on climate change. In fact, the more time passes, the more it is certain that we are going to lose.

Climate change has become the defining challenge of the modern society and there was never a greater challenge for a human race. In the light of all the latest events, the Paris Agreement should be the adequate response to this problem and it should lay the foundation for the future course of action. The problem is that the current commitments are not enough to see this problem through. It has become obvious that, in every region, every day, all front pages are swarming with all sorts of disasters like fires, droughts and storms, all related to weather. The situation is more alarming than half of the population is aware of and the recent reports from Dominica and Barbuda are more than shocking. It seems that we do not fully realize how fast this climate change is moving actually.

Technology and science could be the solution

The scientists and experts are warning the public that the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is higher than in the last 800,000 years and if we do not do something about this really fast, we might face the worldwide catastrophe of epic proportions. This is something that concerns us all.

This year saw the increase of CO2 emissions, first in three years which is a cause for alarm. If we take the fact that the last five years have been the hottest period ever recorded, it is more than safe to say that something is going on around here and it does not smell good at all. This will not reflect well on our natural habitat as well as our water and food supplies or health. Certain species require certain conditions in order to progress and thrive and if they get rid of those conditions due to a climate change, they will get extinct pretty soon. Many people do not know this but let me assure you that we are in a war for our very existence on this planet or at least the life as we know it. Without food, water, and air, we are doomed as a species and this does not fall only on us but on every living being in this world. Still, there is hope as we can put all our hopes in our best two weapons that we have at the moment, science and technology.
